Organ donation awareness brought crowds into nature across the country last week to trot for transplants.
Classic LifeCare in BC and Alberta showed support for one of its own, Executive Leader Andrea Warren, who is the successful, healthy recipient of a liver transplant. The Transplant Trots are a series of not-for-profit running and walking events held during National Organ and Tissue Donation Week or “NOTDAW”. Each Trot is organized by a group of local volunteers on behalf of the Canadian Transplant Association.
The trots were created to: Celebrate life after transplant for organ and tissue recipients; increase organ and tissue donation awareness in our communities and across Canada; and increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors in Canada.
The Calgary trot was held on Saturday, April 20 and Vancouver’s event was held on Sunday, April 28.
Classic LifeCare was represented at both events with 16 from Alberta attending, including kids and three dogs. Vancouver had more than 25 walkers and runners, including kids and three dogs!
