Because Vancouver Cares

By April 25, 2017May 29th, 2017Moments

An exciting partnership between the Vancouver Public Library, the YWCA and the City of Vancouver will benefit Vancouverites in the downtown east side.

The new branch of the Vancouver Public Library and Cause We Care House – a YWCA initiative – is now open on Hastings Street at Heatley Avenue.

Classic LifeCare owner Susanne Sherwood was at the opening on Wednesday, along with more than 100 other supporters. Classic LifeCare has proudly supported the YWCA’s Crabtree Corner for the past few years by providing lunch program volunteers and running donation drives for various community needs. Some of the women and children supported by Crabtree corner will benefit from long-term housing at Cause We Care House.

Right beside the new library entrance, residents can access the 21 units of affordable housing.

Last week’s grand opening included presentations by YWCA CEO Janet Austin and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson. Chief Wayne Sparrow from the Musqueam Nation performed a brushing ceremony to bless the project.
