Epilepsy took centre stage on March 23 as teams participated in a plane pull to raise awareness and funds.
A team from Classic LifeCare joined the second annual Purple Day Plane Pull event organized by the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre Society (VEPC).
The Purple Day for Epilepsy is a fun team competition held each year in March at the Viscount Aero Centre, near Victoria to raise funds for VEPC. Teams of five compete against each other by pulling an aircraft 10 feet. The team with the fastest pull time and the most funds raised wins the competition.
Classic LifeCare’s team – the “Classic Pullers” – participated for the first time.
“What a great way to raise awareness for epilepsy”, says Andrea Hoerger, Community Relations for Classic LifeCare Victoria. “Catriona Johnson and Barb Gilmore from VEPC did an excellent job organizing this event.”
The plane represents the weight a person with epilepsy has to carry around every day. This year’s event brought together 14 teams.
The Purple Day Plane Pull was a memorable event for all participants. Living in the Moments that Matter – after all, it’s not every day you get the chance to pull a plane!
